The 13th Annual Maryland Land Conservation Conference will take place on Tuesday, April 23, 2013. The Maryland Environmental Trust will host this
year’s conference at the Conference Center at the Maritime Institute in Linthicum Heights, Maryland.
This year’s conference will provide a full day of training and workshops on a variety of topics of interest to land conservationists, land trust staff and board members,
government agencies and elected officials. This annual event provides an opportunity for the exchange of new ideas about the future of land conservation in Maryland.
We are pleased to announce writer, photographer, farmer, and conservationist Peter Forbes as the 2013 Keynote Speaker. Peter Forbes is Senior Advisor
and cofounder of the Center for Whole Communities. Forbes is well-known for his ability to bring together a wide circle of participants and build bridges between sectors,
coalitions, and organizations, and for nurturing a new land movement that integrates land health, social justice, and human spirit. Forbes has earned a national reputation
as being a champion of a new brand of community-based conservation, where the health of the people and the health of the land are viewed as equal.
The day concludes with a reception and awards presentation. For more information or to learn about sponsorships or exhibiting at the event, contact Michelle
Johnson at (410) 514-7908 or mjohnson@dnr.state.md.us.
