Welcome Agenda Registration Directions Home

WELCOME

Land Conservation Conference 2008, Maryland's annual conference and training workshop for land trusts, will be held this year on June 6 at the Howard County Conservancy.

The Conservancy is headquartered at Mt. Pleasant Farm, a 300-year old, 232-acre farm located in Woodstock, Maryland. Historic Mt. Pleasant farm was donated for preservation by Ruth and Frances Brown, former Howard County schoolteachers. It is now used for educational programs and special events, as well as being open to the public for hiking and visiting both their nature center and the 3-acre John L. Clark Honors Garden.

In one exciting day, Conference 2008 will provide sessions on LTA accreditation, climate change, current topics in stewardship, what it means to be a land trust board member, and connecting people to the land. Lunch will include the recognition of conservation leaders and a keynote speech by Iantha Gantt-Wright. Conference 2008 will conclude with a short tour and hike around the Conservancy grounds, followed by a light reception featuring beer, wine, appetizers and ice cream.

Online registration is encouraged.
